Privacy Policy

1. Overview

GeoScore is an open-source GEO audit tool with free single-browser audits and optional Pro monitoring. This policy explains what data each mode collects and why.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

A single browser audit runs client-side. When you enter a URL to audit:

  • The URL is fetched directly from your browser to public proxies and the target site.
  • The URL is not sent to GeoScore servers as part of the browser audit; the browser requests public resources directly or through a CORS proxy.
  • The URL is never logged, never stored, and never shared with third parties.

3. Data We Do Collect

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand aggregate traffic patterns. GA4 collects:

  • Page views (URL paths only, no query strings with audit URLs)
  • Referrer (the previous website you came from)
  • Country and city (derived from IP, then discarded)
  • Device type, browser, operating system
  • Screen resolution and viewport size

IP anonymization is enabled. We do not enable Google Signals. Adsterra may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads.

4. Cookies

GeoScore uses no first-party cookies. GA4 may set its own cookies for visitor identification; you can opt out via your browser's Do Not Track setting, the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking third-party cookies in your browser. Adsterra and its partners may set third-party cookies or device identifiers to serve and measure ads.

5. Your Cookie Choices

Analytics and advertising scripts are blocked until you allow them. On your first visit a panel at the bottom of the page asks which categories you accept; nothing is requested from Google Analytics or Adsterra before you make a choice.

  • Analytics — Google Analytics 4 page-view measurement.
  • Advertising — Adsterra ad slots.

Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage under the key geoscore-consent-v1; it is not sent to us. To change or withdraw it, open Cookie settings in the footer and choose "Essential only", or turn both switches off. Newly granted categories load immediately; a withdrawal stops the scripts from being requested again on your next page load (scripts already running in the current page are not unloaded). Clearing your browser storage also deletes the choice and brings the panel back.

GeoScore is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, please contact us so we can remove it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Material changes will be noted in the GitHub repository changelog.
